(I've already posted pictures earlier of our celebration with my Dad's side of the family, and also with the Careys.)
We also had a great time with my Mom's side of the family this past Thanksgiving. My Uncle Danny, Aunt Linda, Jamin, Ginger, Ginger's boyfriend Jake, Sherry, Daymian, Jordan, Mom, Bill, Grammy and little Laura were all there to celebrate! Aunt Linda knows how to celebrate in style... She's the BEST COOK!!!
Doug and I were in Europe a few years ago for Thanksgiving. The only time I was ever homesick during our 17-day trip was when I called family members from the Termini Train Station in Rome... The "Romans" didn't celebrate Thanksgiving that day, so we had opted for pasta earlier. Because Rome is six hours ahead of East Coast time, we were already getting back from our day of excursions when I called my Grandmother. She was telling me about her attempt to perfect her cornbread dressing recipe, to take it over to Aunt Linda's for Thanksgiving Dinner later that day... As good as the pasta was, I still longed to try Grandmother's perfected stuffing recipe, and be surrounded by family and familiar hugs. Talk about feeling a world away....
Fortunately our hotel concierge (Stefano) spoke a great deal of English and was a friendly guy. When we returned from the train station, we ended-up talking with him for a while. He was a very nice distraction, and a way to feel somewhat connected in a bustling, busy city of strangers. I told Doug that Stefano was an absolute angel in disguise, because of how "homesick" I was feeling at that exact moment.
This year we got to celebrate with our families in the good 'ole USA and enjoyed every minute of it!
