Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head

About a week ago, I read the book "I Love You More Than Rainbows" to Ava at bedtime. I think it's my favorite book I've read to her, yet. One page mentions catching the snow on your tongue, and letting the rain fall on your face. When we read those pages, Ava said "I want to do that!" I told her that the next time it rained, we would see if she could catch some rain.

Saturday we went out for ice cream. Just as we pulled into our sub-division, it started to downpour. It was raining so hard, we couldn't help but just watch it from our garage for a few minutes. I asked Ava if she wanted to try to catch some rain. She giddily agreed. So, with her shoes off anyway (this is the way she rolls... During any ride around town, the shoes come off of her and Liam both. Ugh!), she gingerly inched her way out into the rain. Before we knew it, she was jumping through puddles and splashing around. It was so fun to watch how genuinely happy she was at that moment, splashing around.

Doug, Liam and I stayed in the garage and watched her having such fun.

When we got back into the house 15 minutes later, she said "Thank you Mommy for letting me play in the rain." :-) Good times.

Catching rain...

Mid-jump. She looks suspended!

A happy girl...

Peace, love and puddle-jumpers,

Oh the cuteness! This made me smile so much Shelly!

I can remember playing in the rain with friends when I was younger and also watching storms roll in with my parents. Such fond memories.

Now Ava will have them with you, Doug and Liam. You captured the pure joy on her face very well. So sweet!
