Mittie's Tea Room

Today was such a fun day!
Melissa Baillairge mentioned a while ago that her husband Jeff treated her to a coupon for Mittie’s Tea Room in Roswell.  She asked if we would like to go for a fancy “tea” sometime, so the girls (Ava and Melissa’s daughter Alana) could enjoy their first tea together.  It sounded like great fun!  We both agreed that we would dress up “fancy” and have fun with it.

Ava let me pick out her dress for the occasion (which doesn’t happen too often these days).  I wore a dress I got a killer deal on at Kohl’s, but just haven’t had the right occasion to wear it.  (I originally bought for a work party that ended up being casual).  Ironically,  Ava’s dress and my dress were practically the same color!  She brought her white patent-leather purse, had her nails painted peach (as she described the color).  We even curled her hair and put it in a "princess ponytail" (half-up).  She was excited.  Doug snapped a few pictures of us outside, before we headed to Mittie’s.  Ava brought her pink teddy bear, since we were told it was a “Teddy Bear tea.”

When we arrived at Mittie’s, Alana and Ava were already seated and looked beautiful, as always.  Alana and Melissa both wore purple nail polish.  So Mom and Ava in our matching dresses, and the Baillairge ladies in their matching nail polish!  :)
The atmosphere was very nice.  Some patrons were seated on the outdoor patio, but it wasn’t terribly crowded.  There was a pair of fairy wings at each of the girls’ place settings, waiting to be decorated.  The girls both set out decorating their fairy wings with fun peel and stick foam decorations while we perused the menu.
Melissa and I went for the gusto and had their “high tea,” which provided a nice assortment of different foods.  The girls both had pink (decaf) tea in a beautiful teddy bear cup with matching saucer.  Their plates had a half grilled-cheese sandwich, a peanut butter and jelly half-sandwich, a deli pinwheel, fruit cup, mini zucchini muffin and orange slice.  I had their peach tea, Melissa had their iced chai tea.  I think we were all excited as the fancy-schmancy “tower of dessert” arrived!  There were two different kinds of petit-fours and homemade pecan sandies cookies, as well.  Everything was delicious!
It was especially nice to be able to talk to Melissa.  Although we see each other every week, it is mostly while attending to our kids’ immediate needs.
The girls seemed especially impressed with (and commented on) the pretty bathroom.  Ava told Alana how pretty it was, after we took a trip to the bathroom.  Cute.  After dessert was finished, we headed outdoors.  Ava and Alana had fun running around wearing their fairy wings.  The sunlight was beautiful and made for great pictures.  The owner (or manager on duty) saw us taking pictures and asked if she could also take a picture for their Facebook page.  We obliged.  :)
It was so fun to have an afternoon out with just the girls, doing something completely girly!
Peace, love and all things dain-TEA,
Shelly, Doug, Ava and Liam
