Welcome! These are snap-shots and stories of our family as we grow! ~ We have two sweet little ones and are really enjoying this phase of our lives! Here's a peek...
Printed out forms today to register Ava for kindergarten. It actually made my stomach queasy. I am not this old. I am not this old. I am not this old...
Done with the cabbage-soup thang. Very glad. Day #7 wasn't easy. I felt pretty weak toward the end, there. So, for breakfast? Fritos. Breakfast of champions.
I did lose 7-8 lbs during the week, but ultimately my goal was to prove I could finish something like this. It was good to detox, as well.
I started on the diet with an open mind, just hoping I could make it past day 3. I tried this diet a few years ago and kept forgetting words I wanted to say on Day #3. After consulting with Doug, I agreed that if I was forgetting words, it probably wasn't a good idea for me to continue on with this diet.
It did feel good to prove to myself that I could submit to something like this diet and finish it out. I REALLY wanted something to eat last night around 10 p.m., but didn't want to screw up 7 days of eating the way I was supposed to eat (per the diet). I played by the rules.
Thankful that I didn't succomb to that temptation and was able to keep mind over matter.
Things I learned: - I don't need everything I want. - I don't need as much food to survive as I thought. (Hopefully I "reprogrammed myself" here). - Cabbage soup doesn't make me gag. - I had enough food for my brain's "circuitry" to work. (Didn't forget words this time around). - Any suffering I might've experienced was chump change compared to what many go through on a daily basis. - Submitting yourself to something is not always a bad thing. - Without needing to think about what to eat, my day / time was more free to do other things. - If you have the will to finish something, you can, if only you choose to do it (and your body allows, in this case). - Compounded good choices can make you look back and not want to screw up a good run (with one small bad choice).
Peace, love and someone-find-me-a-buffet-diner? Shelly, Doug, Ava and Liam
I had no paczki yesterday (Fat Tuesday), but instead I'm signing-up for a week of cabbage soup in hopes of kick-starting the metabolism. I don't think they even know what paczkis are here in Georgia... This diet / cleanse will serve as a mini-form of Lent, too, I suppose.
P.S.-if I seem agitated a few days from now, you’ll know why!
