My how time flies! I can't believe it's already been a year? It seems like just yesterday we were packing our bags for the hospital.

Today Ava left for day care donned in a pretty birthday dress (and tennis shoes :-). We sent "birthday baby pancakes" with her, to share with her fellow classmates. A healthier alternative to frosted cupcakes, I suppose. She LOVES these pancakes and eats one every morning. The day care provider suggested something like bananas or pancakes, because everyone could eat them. :-)

We don't have any elaborate (i.e.-Chuck E. Cheese :-)) plans to celebrate her birthday, just a quiet night at home with family, enjoying time together. Maybe we'll scrounge up a cupcake so she can practice blowing out a birthday candle! We're looking forward to celebrating her birthday with grandparents and other family in a few weeks.

Ava's first year doctor appointment is next week, so I will be sure to post her "stats" after the appointment, along with a one-year picture of Ava in (or somewhere around) her rocking chair. Her latest craze is climbing up onto the chair, standing in the chair (rocking), climbing down, and doing it all over again. I think she could actually do this for hours and never get bored! She now also climbs on her "car" and gets close to "surfing" around in the living room. We can't take our eyes off of her for a minute! (Although she hasn't had any horrible falls, yet). She's ever-so-curious about her world! We love to watch her learning and growing.

Our little baby isn't a baby anymore. She's officially a toddler! I told Doug this morning that we must not be that bad at being parents, if she made it to the one year mark! ;-) She actually LOOKS like a toddler now, too. Sad, in a way, that our baby is no longer a baby, but we're so HAPPY to see her thriving and happy.
You're our gift from heaven! We love you sweetie pie!
