It was a big deal this week, with the teacher submerging the babies and quickly moving them underwater toward the parents, for a brief second (all while holding them). Ava cried when Doug handed her over to the instructor. She stopped crying for a second, the teacher then submerged her, pushing her underwater toward Doug and letting her pop out of the water, into Doug's arms. Ava was a little startled, I think, coming up from underwater. All of the kids had the "deer in headlights" look on their face when they came out of the water.
When I gave her a bath afterward, she did not want to sit in the tub, especially when I poured water over her head to wash-out the shampoo. For a few baths, now, she has cried when we walk into the bathroom. Smarty pants. But, if she stands up in the tub, I just try to hug her (while she's still standing in the tub, not letting her get out) and eventually get her to sit down again. She'll get used to it, I'm sure. It'll just take a little time.
This picture is the one taken right after Ava was "dunked".
Peace, love and H20,
Shelly
