Doug’s birthday came on Sunday this year with the onslaught of activities associated with Liam’s birthday and July 4th. I felt bad for the guy! The night of his birthday we went to Brad and Missy Willis’s house from church to watch the Norcross fireworks. The next day, we had a 4th of July cook-out in our cul-de-sac that was rained-out. We moved the cook-out to the screened-in porch of the Quinns’. I bought him tira mi su dessert from Publix to celebrate, but there weren't any elaborate parties this year. :( The kids sang "Happy Birthday" to Daddy, after lighting a candle for the tira mi su.
I had just bought him quite a few pairs of shorts before his birthday. When I asked him what he wanted, he told me a day or so before his birthday about a very specific tool that he wanted which was way across town. I felt bad, but I told him that maybe he should get it, as I was afraid I might not get the right thing? (Some sort of woodworking tool). So, needless to say, it wasn't a hugely monumental birthday. I'm hoping we can make next year's birthday that much more special, though!
Happy birthday, babe. I pray that this year is your favorite yet!
I love you with all my heart and am so thankful for all that you do for our family.
You are a dream come true.
Love eternally,
Shelly (and Ava and Liam) :-)
