Shelly's Jellies: Jam On It!

This year I have been infatuated obsessed with canning things.  I bought a Better Homes and Gardens canning magazine, which looked like some fun.  They had quite a few odd sounding recipes in the magazine, which I HAD to make.  120+ jars later, I had quite the stockpile of jams, jellies, goodies when we went to Michigan. I gave some to Mom, Sherry, Aunt Linda, Ginger, Grandmother, Dolly, Mom Carey, Kristy, Tracy.  It was fun to be able to give the jams and jellies as gifts.  Hopefully they enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.  I told Doug I knew I enjoyed canning things, because I caught myself smiling when I was filling jars with the jelly one day.  J
My friend Amy mentioned a Web site called www.myownlabels.com. I created some labels for the jellies and VOILA!  I thought they turned-out super cute!
The list of recipes this year includes:
  • Cider 'n' Spice jelly
  • Carrot cake jam
  • Strawberry jam
  • Strawberry / ginger-ale jam
  • Strawberry margarita jam
  • Grape juice jelly (I hope to make my Grandma Nila's concord grape jelly recipe when concord grapes are in season soon)
  • Lemon / Orange Blossom-Honey Jelly
  • Vanilla-scented pickled sweet cherries (not my favorite.) :(
  • No-sugar Apple Cinnamon Conserve
  • Vidalia onion and maple conserve
  • Charred Chili barbecue sauce
  • Pappasito’s style salsa
  • Black Forest Preserves
  • Blueberry-Maple-Pecan Conserve

I’ve decided, if I ever open a store for jams and jellies, it must be called “Jam On It”.  ;-)
Peace, love and preserving memories,
Shelly, Doug, Ava and Liam

My first attempt at using a pressure canner this year.  Not for jellies, but one more kitchen feat conquered!  :)
