Ellijay Apple Festival 2009

My friend Anna Fletcher has quite a bit of family in the Ellijay, Georgia area. Each Fall, Ellijay has an annual Apple Festival. Because I miss out on the apple cider in Michigan, I try to make my way up to Ellijay to get a dose of it each Fall. Apple bread, cider, fudge, elephant ears, wood crafts, inflatable jumps for the kids, mini train rides, cloggers, gospel singers. It's definitely reflective of the heart of Ellijay.

Anna and I packed up my mini-van and added her two car seats to ours. Two mamas and four kids traveling down country roads. It was fun! We got to Anna's Grandma's house around lunch time. Anna's Grandpa died earlier this past year. They were married for over 50 years! Anna tries to stop by to see her Grandma whenever she can. The kids enjoyed running around her Grandma's house.

We said good-bye and headed to the apple festival. Unfortunately it was a little chilly and rainy that day. We dodged the rain by walking through covered tents when it was at its worst, or watching the cloggers or gospel singers.

Ava and Ryan-Ashton seemed to have fun sliding down the inflatable slides a few times. They also went on a motorized train that drove through the festival. I picked up some oreo fudge for Doug. By the end of the day, we had some seriously tired kiddos, but none slept on the way home. We were grateful to be warm and dry in the car after our fun.

Thanks for going, Anna! Can't wait to go to next year's festival!

Peace, love and cider,
Shelly, Doug, Ava and Liam
